Experiencing the Thrill of Cosmic Adventures With ØRBITA’s Debut Album ‘Gravity’

Dear listeners and readers of Soundville, get ready, because we are going on a cosmic adventure with the debut album of the project ØRBITA ‘Gravity.’ But first, let me introduce you to Dmitrii Riabokon, a Bali-based music producer who stands behind the synth project ØRBITA. Dmitrii Riabokon takes inspiration from science fiction and retrofuturism, combining cinematic textures, pulsating rhythms, and synthesizers. Thanks to excellent production and technical performance, ØRBITA confidently leads its listeners through self-created worlds to show the multifaceted universe beyond reality.

The foundation for creating the debut album ‘Gravity’ was laid back in childhood, when Dmitrii Riabokon listened to his father’s record collection, actively performed with a guitar in his teenage years with various music groups, and created music for video and online content under the pseudonym OctoSound. Only at the end of 2024 did Dmitrii Riabokon launch the ØRBITA project to fully focus on retrofuturistic and synth music, which had always held a special place in his heart.

The debut album ‘Gravity’ has a total of 9 tracks, each smoothly transitioning into the next, creating a true story. I like how the musician combined personal emotions with the dear and beloved synthwave, and the 80s-style drums completely enchanted me. This creates a special atmosphere of the electronic wave. It is worth noting how ØRBITA works with cinematic textures, which helped create an atmosphere almost indistinguishable from leading movies, TV series, or video games based on futuristic themes. I suggest you put all your tasks aside right now and listen with me to the brightest tracks from ‘Gravity,’ which created a true cosmic adventure for me.

And, of course, the first track ‘Arrival’ is moderately fast and multifaceted. Electronic textures of synthesizers overlap each other, creating an unreal atmosphere of another world and even a city of the future. Even without vocals, the melody acquires its own dimension and paints a real adventure in the mind. The next track ‘Prism’ sounds deeper and more expressive. A slow unfolding, low pads, and a bright ringing rhythm sound like a logical continuation of the first track, as a continuation of a single story about space travel. I would like to highlight the track ‘Burn,’ which stands out after the first two. The rhythm is the same. But Riabokon added stronger drum parts, which created a different dynamic and aura. The track is filled with energy, movement, and action. It is similar to an encounter with the first extraterrestrial intelligence from another galaxy. For me, ‘Burn’ reveals the story from an unknown side, like an experience you want to repeat and meet new inhabitants of the vast galaxy.

Perhaps that is why the next track ‘Gravity’ acquires a barely perceptible voice. They float in the melody, merging with it, prompting thoughts of another life. I like how the textures change in Gravity. They are vast, smoothly flowing into each other, and this allows listening to the track multiple times and discovering something new in the sound each time, and possibly new stories. If you are looking for a conceptual chill electronic track, with vast sound and complex harmonies that immediately catch the ear, then don’t miss ‘Dusk.’ It seems to me that in ‘Dusk’ the musician is searching for space inside a person, going beyond “just a cosmic theme,” and reaching for the aura, soul, and energetic zones that connect a person with the infinite space of cosmos and energy. I like that in the musician’s music you can find interesting mysteries and themes that are incredibly deep.

The album ends with the track ‘Home,’ and it is a perfect surprise! Futuristic sounds and electronic pads touch on an almost earthly mood and rhythm. I like how it feels like the sound of a flute, returning the mind to green forests and endless fields. You know, I even felt a surge of love for our planet Earth. It’s as if I haven’t been home for a very long time, and now, returning, I experience a feeling of excitement from a fulfilled desire – to come back home. Once, in a sci-fi series, I heard the phrase, “The main instinct of a human is to return home.” Then I didn’t pay attention to it, but after listening to ‘Home’ following such an interesting cosmic adventure, I discovered this phrase anew. And all thanks to the feelings that appeared in me after listening to the musician’s music. It’s just incredible! What was that? How to explain it? You must have also experienced some special inspiration listening to the music? Be sure to add your favorite tracks to your playlists and follow the musician so you don’t miss more bright electronic-cosmic music in the future. Yeah!

Hi ØRBITA! Thank you for releasing such wonderful music. ‘Gravity’ is a really interesting and amazingly made album. For me, it reopened the meaning of futurism in electronic music. When I was listening to your album, scenes from a sci-fi movie flashed through my mind, and I felt like I was the main character there. This feeling of a living picture created only by music is something huge and truly precious. Not every musician can cope with such a task, but you did it. I will definitely keep listening to ‘Gravity’ again and again and show it to everyone so they can also enjoy such beautiful electronic music. I love it and want more! I’m your fan, yaaa!
