Dear listener and reader of Soundville! I want to share with you an interesting story of musician and songwriter Chris Bullinger and his 23-track album “Waitin’ to be Seen.” You know, learning more about Chris Bullinger’s path, which led him to releasing his music, has inspired me. Chris Bullinger has been writing songs for as long as he can remember, learned to play the guitar, piano, and violin. Moreover, his vocals are so deep and multifaceted that they convey emotions in his Americana genre that sometimes make you want to cry, and at other times, indulge in warm memories. However, before he could fully commit to creating music and dedicate himself entirely to it, he had to undergo a long path of personal growth and finding his footing in life. And he succeeded! Having established a base in life, Chris Bullinger fully turned towards music, investing in every lyric, every note, and song a part of himself and his life. Isn’t this an example of how dedication to music and a true calling find their realization one way or another? Chris Bullinger has already released five albums, acclaimed by critics and listeners worldwide. And now, with intuitive interaction among musicians from Nashville (Alabama Shakes, Langhorne Slim, Mitski) and the impeccable teamwork of the entire team, the first part of the large album “Waitin’ to be Seen – Part 1” consisting of 12 tracks has been released.

These are the first tracks of a major release that introduce us to a story of love and passion between a touring musician and a woman he meets by chance along the way. Chris Bullinger conveys all these feelings through cozy Americana, light blues, and roots rock. And if you’ve been craving calming music, this is exactly what you need.
The album starts with the warm roots rock of “One Complete Connection”, the slow swaying of guitars, Chris Bullinger’s soft voice narrates the story, and a light melody gently pulls you in. A warm feeling of involvement immediately arises in my heart. The captivating story dissolves in thoughts, and you inevitably want to find out what happens next. And you know, this is a trait we will encounter further: Chris Bullinger is an excellent storyteller, and his music only adds to that atmosphere, creating an unforgettable impression. I am utterly charmed by the slow “Ain’t Life Grand”. The minimalist arrangement creates a very intimate feeling, and the vocals with light backing support draw you into their cozy world. I am confident that every connoisseur of classic sound will appreciate the quality of the sound and the richness of the melody.
The atmosphere heats up with “Darlin’ ‘n’ Me.” Chris Bullinger’s vocals transform, becoming stronger and more robust, while the melody unfolds in a fast rhythm and bright blues hooks. I like how the music on the album constantly reflects different emotional states and stories. This is emphasized in the following “Up All Night,” where the keys, guitar, and saxophone come to the forefront, and the vocals enhance the atmosphere with their soft performance and swinging style. I adore Chris Bullinger’s relaxed voice and his ability to change the atmosphere with just his performance. Impeccable!
The tender, homely Americana in “Already Broke” transports me to a cozy past and allows me to indulge in these memories in a calm manner, while “I’m Not Comin’ Back Home” introduces a light melancholy into the atmosphere. The swaying melody, distant guitars, and light vocals in “I’m Not Comin’ Back Home” touch the deepest strings of the soul. It’s impossible not to feel the melancholy spreading through consciousness, offering a moment to pause and feel isolated. This is very important in our fast-paced modern world, and Chris Bullinger’s music allows you to do just that.

“Waitin’ to be Seen – Part 1” concludes with vibrant tracks that leave an ellipsis, never placing a period. In “Temporary Baby,” Chris Bullinger tells a story that immediately sticks in the mind, and a soothing melody with gentle textural harmonies and airy keys creates an atmosphere of complete immersion in the melody. This sense of tranquility is shattered by the final track, “Payin’ Dues.” This song is full of energy, passion, innuendo, and hidden emotions. Through his deep voice with a gripping rasp, Chris Bullinger conveys all shades of passion, while a rich saxophone and an arrangement filled with harmonies and energy lead through searing passion. And that distorted sound towards the end of the track? Wow, it’s fiery!
The excellent ending to the first part is like the bright climax of a film that leaves you wanting more. What awaits our hero next? I want to know now, and I think you do too, right? An impeccable album that creates a great atmosphere and allows you to enjoy a superb conceptual story.
