Boys get sad too by Aleks Grey

Dear listener and readers of Soundville,

Take a seat for a few minutes, and let’s talk about Aleks Grey’s debut album ‘Boys get sad too’, which is set to drop on all streaming platforms on October 11. Through this release, Aleks Grey touches on themes we all know too well. Ten years ago, Aleks Grey and his friends were on the same path, exploring the world and themselves. Now, each has gone their own way, and sometimes the memories of those who once meant everything remain only as a name in the phone. Sounds familiar, right?

I love Aleks Grey’s sincere, almost nostalgic take on those wild and uncertain years when life is just beginning to take shape but can so easily slip out of control. Ten years ago, everything seemed so simple: new faces, new places, new emotions. But now, many of those who once shared these moments are scattered along different paths. Some have settled down, some are still searching, and some remain only in memories. These memories, warm yet sometimes painful, form the heart of Aleks Grey’s music and his album ‘Boys get sad too’. I got a chance to listen to the album before its release, and my friends, this is a one-of-a-kind release that could change the course of things. What moved me deeply is how each song carries a reminder that time changes everything, and yes, even boys are allowed to cry because of it.

The opening track ‘You Broke Me Angel’ sets the tone with its piercing story of being hurt so deeply that you’d rather run away than face the pain. Co-written with Iselin Solheim, known for her vocals on Alan Walker’s ‘Faded,’ the song blends sharp lyrics with a cool pop melody.

In ’28,’ you’ll find the core of the release and what Aleks Grey aims to convey to each listener. Here, he dives into the stark contrasts that arise when friends take different paths in life: some settle down, others are still searching. Gentle guitars, commercial vocals, and a swaying sound make ’28’ both incredibly catchy and melancholic. I love how ‘Peter Parker’ stands out with its metaphorical take on growing up, transformation, and the need for support, even for heroes. A sleek pop arrangement with soft keys and Aleks Grey’s tender vocals gains a swinging note as the tone strengthens, building a solid foundation. The sound evolves beautifully, and by the middle of the song, the melody bursts with vibrant pop rhythms. Absolutely flawless!

The album doesn’t shy away from vulnerability, showing a special depth of emotion in ‘Please Come Home.’ The swaying guitars, soft keys, and Aleks Grey’s smooth, almost gliding vocals strike right at the heart. The impeccable structure of ‘Please Come Home’ makes it my favorite on the album. Outstanding lyrics bring a lump to your throat, while the melancholy wraps around the space. Stylish, emotional, and utterly unique. However, Aleks Grey plays not only with motifs and styles, but the mood also shifts from track to track.

In ‘Hurt Me,’ the melody soars to stadium-sized heights with incredible energy. It’s a cool pop song with a bright rhythm and danceable drums. Guitars mix with keys to create a dense, textured sound. The great, uplifting vibe makes you want to let go of all the earlier melancholy and just dance. Embrace life as it is and enjoy the transformation that everyone goes through. An incredibly cool track that absolutely deserves a spot on your playlist.

I love how the album wraps up, like the credits after a long movie, with the acoustic version of ‘Five minutes (Acoustic)’ featuring Iselin. It gives you a moment to pause and close your eyes. Pure bliss takes on a cozy, homey feel here. If hugs were music, they would be called ‘Five minutes (Acoustic)’ A stunning conclusion that will leave you dizzy.

Mark your calendar for October 11, because on that day, the album ‘ Boys get sad too’ will be everywhere, and you’ll be able to experience the full range – from its light, almost dream-pop tunes to its vibrant pop tracks. ‘Boys get sad too’ is the perfect album for the autumn, adding to the atmosphere with its sincerity and melancholy. I promise!

Hey Aleks Grey! Thank you for creating such awesome music. I was incredibly hooked by your sound, the production quality, and your performance. I noticed how your vocals in each song convey different emotions while staying true to one consistent sound. Despite the contemplative concept of the album, each track stands strong on its own. Everyone will find something that touches their heart. This makes ‘Boys Get Sad Too’ feel so intimate and personal, and I’m confident in its success. Simply amazing! There’s so much strength, inspiration, and energy here that I’ve been left completely inspired. I’ll definitely share your album with everyone on release day so they can feel your incredible sound. Love it!
