Carols of the Harp by Cecily Beer

Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,

Do you feel how the Christmas season is approaching? How shop windows are gradually being decorated, advertisements are acquiring red and white hues, Christmas tales are coming to life, and music is becoming magical and airy like a dream? At this anticipated time, the infinitely talented Cecily Beer begins to shine with her new EP ‘Carols of the Harp’ of festive compositions. Cecily Beer was accompanied by composer Thomas Hewitt Jones and the Chamber Orchestra of London, which gave the release incredible significance and atmosphere. Three compositions familiar to everyone acquire a magical sound with Cecily Beer’s gentle harp, the sensual play of the orchestra, and Thomas Hewitt Jones.

This release will add a bit of sunny energy to your routine, bright dreams, offering the opportunity to touch unearthly music that is so familiar. I like that in ‘Carols of the Harp’ there is a noticeable commercial tint, but don’t think that this leads to glossiness; quite the opposite, here the music hooks you like the best hits that stay in memory and define eras. Each composition possesses an incomprehensible, enchanting energy capable of creating entire stories in your mind. So, I invite you to touch the magic of Christmas music, from which it is impossible to tear yourself away!

The EP opens with the lush and textured ‘Sussex Carol.’ Airy strings intertwine with gentle harp and ethereal keys, merging into a unified sound filled with energy and lightness. The cinematic quality of ‘Sussex Carol’ possesses a very sensual and vibrant atmosphere where dreams and fantasies come alive. This composition has the ability to disconnect you from the real world, offering moments of solitude and an almost magical ambiance where anyone can become part of their favorite fairy tale. I get goosebumps from this piece. You know, when I listen to ‘Sussex Carol,’ my heart fills with joy and ease. This composition paints in my mind a scene of a carefree evening, where a caring hostess is so engrossed in preparing crispy Christmas cookies that she doesn’t notice how the flour scatters around her and leaves white, dusty streaks on the red and green apron tied around her waist.

Then, in ‘Silent Night,’ a moment of silence arrives, where contemplation and love become the primary feelings in every moment. It’s a very delicate, light, and cinematic melody, filled with inspiration and an elevated sense of greatness and beauty. The soft overflows of Cecily Beer’s harp blend with the strings, adding softness and airiness to the sound. Listening to ‘Silent Night,’ it seems as if the whole world around is illuminated with lights of joy and love, and everyone around is incredibly happy. In my mind, it’s like a scene from a movie: falling snowflakes, the orange glow of street lamps, and the reunion of lovers on a snowy pavement. Incredible! This feeling of joy and light doesn’t leave until the very last note, making you want to keep ‘Silent Night’ on repeat to experience this feeling over and over again.

The EP concludes with the composition ‘Bell Carol’. A whirlwind of nostalgia envelops you, and the bright and soothing performance immediately captivates. The magic of the Christmas melody here acquires a cozy hue, and its sincerity gives you goosebumps. Each instrument contributes a fragment of its own soul to the sound, and together they form a unified sound possessing a unique heart. Cecily Beer’s exquisite performance adds a touch of enchantment to the melody, elevating it and introducing a unique sound. You know, I feel as if I’ve become part of an amazing concert that allows you to immerse yourself in the memorable, fantastical atmosphere of one of the Christmas stories. The EP ‘Carols of the Harp’ is something you want to listen to, play in your headphones while searching for gifts, decorating the house, or simply for an atmospheric evening when all tasks can wait. It’s a very bright and airy release that instantly leaves you wanting more. Be sure to add it to your Christmas playlist to get closer to that very winter atmosphere that everyone needs to feel. I’m absolutely delighted, and you?

Hey Cecily Beer! Thank you for releasing such an excellent EP. Each melody is incredibly sensual and special, with its own mood and soul. It was so cozy and stylish that I want to keep ‘Carols of the Harp’ on repeat, in fact, I did just that, hehe. When I was listening to your EP, sometimes I was overwhelmed by such an elevated feeling that it warmed my heart. Oh, I wish I could attend your concert with the orchestra. I’d probably cry from the emotions. I’m too romantic, eh. It was an amazing release, and I’m glad to have experienced it. ‘Carols of the Harp’ became my first Christmas orchestral release this year, so it now holds a special place in my heart. I’ll definitely show your release to absolutely everyone, so they can also be inspired by great music, right? I love it and want more!
