Entropy by 2ŁØT

Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,

Have you ever wondered what really happens when life turns into a whirlwind of unpredictability? When chaos knocks on the door, leaving no room to breathe? For 2ŁØT, the answer lies in music a chaotic whirlwind of creativity, resilience, and events. 2ŁØT is a band consisting of vocalist and keyboardist Rudy Love Jr., drummer Omar Javar, keyboardist Sage Judd, guitarist Chase Koch, and bassist Robert Trusko. They formed in response to the disorder of life’s challenges, turning uncertainty into art. 2ŁØT blends electronic music, funk, jazz, soul, and rock into what they call Electronic Jam Music (EJM). At the core of 2ŁØT’s mission is a belief in the power of transformation embracing imperfection, leaning into improvisation, and using sound to make sense of chaos. Even their name, 2ŁØT, drawn from the Second Law of Thermodynamics, reflects their understanding of entropy: the idea that disorder is inevitable but can also spark creativity.

Recently, 2ŁØT released their debut album, ‘Entropy’. The 10-track album marks a new chapter in their ongoing exploration of what it means to find meaning in the face of chaos. ‘Entropy’ is filled with intricate instrumental arrangements, moments of pure improvisational magic, vibrant electronic textures, and stylish pads shifting like a whirlwind. I urge you to dive into this incredible album and soak in its stunning energy.

I invite you to dance through entropy with the opening track, ‘Cage.’ A fantastic pop electronic sound grabs you from the first beat. The melody unfolds, gaining momentum like a whirlwind that bursts into a true fireworks display of energy. I love the dynamic groove paired with distorted vocals blending seamlessly with the rhythm. It’s a cool track that embodies the concept of the release, showing that everything is in harmony even if it’s harmony within chaos. 2ŁØT experiment with instruments and sound, offering a unique experience in ‘Grief.’ I love how the light soul vocals blend with chill, almost tropical pads, creating a slight dissonance. Yet, it’s a split that feels intriguing, amplifying the atmosphere. The melody shifts as delicate guitars join the dark, low rhythmic beats, and the vocals take on soft, acoustic pop tones. ‘Grief’ gives me chills with its unpredictability and energy. It’s amazing. You feel it too, right?

That’s why the next track, ‘Human,’ feels like a continuation of the previous one. However, 2ŁØT bring in a groovy beat with an excellent commercial vocal, playing with structure and genres. Jumping from dance-pop to jazz, the band invites you to experience the full power of transformation. 2ŁØT are masters of rich, textured sound, combining cold, cosmic keys with warm, soft percussion. It all captures the moment in all its chaotic energy. Flawless! I love the tension at the beginning of the improvisational ‘Arrow of Time.’ A sharp, pulsating beat, rising guitars, keys, and stylish electronic pads create a dark, suspenseful atmosphere where the vocals act as a guide toward light and breaking boundaries. Impeccable strings send shivers down my spine, heralding the start of a new chapter. This unfolds into dark synth sounds and heavy electric guitar. I’ll admit, this is my favorite track on the release, and I could listen to it for hours. Here, Michael Kan plays the electric mandolin. It’s a flawless track that challenges you to stay present, embracing life as it evolves. Every riff and note feels like a celebration of life’s unpredictable impulse and a reflection of the entropy they explore.

‘Call For Me,’ brings a sense of tranquility and hope. The gentle melody and textured electronic sound soothe, filling the heart with lightness and warmth. Here, the band tells the story of a woman who overcame addiction through the support of a community. ‘Call For Me’ symbolizes the importance of reaching out and finding strength through connection, revealing the musicians as social advocates. It’s worth noting that 2ŁØT donates a portion of the proceeds from ‘Call For Me’ to The Phoenix, a nonprofit focused on building a community for people in recovery.

I was deeply moved by the sound of ‘Never Knew You,’ with its airy vocals, sweetly passionate harmonies, and sensual tones, which build into an epic orchestral symphony by the end. This track might become your favorite for tender moments when you just want to be alone with yourself and reflect on all the changes that brought you to the present. The final track, ‘Entropy,’ features bright commercial hooks and refined guitars that leave a pleasant aftertaste and a subtle melancholy of farewell. The powerful and heartfelt message in the song gives you chills, while its airy and almost ethereal sound, shifting through its changing structure, symbolizes finding one’s own peace within chaos. Oh, what a flawless album, one you’ll want to revisit again and again. You felt it too, didn’t you?

P.S. Hey 2ŁØT! Thank you for releasing such amazing music. I absolutely loved your concept and how brilliantly you brought it to life through your sound. The incredible improvisations, top-notch production quality, and flawless performances created a hypnotic and calming experience. Oh, there’s so much inspiration and energy here. Especially in the track ‘Entropy,’ when the melody fades only to return with renewed force, it was so unexpectedly beautiful and deeply emotional. I love how ‘Entropy’ lets you either lose completely, immersing in the fantastic music, or reflect on the idea of entropy and its connection to sound. I’m definitely sharing your album with everyone, it’s unforgettable and truly unique. Yeah! I adore it.
