Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
If you need a moment to unwind and reset your mood, don’t miss the new album ‘Night’s Cross’ by Rosetta West. It features 12 tracks of pure energy, a mix of alt-rock with hints of punk, grunge, arthouse, blues, humor, death, and a dash of salt. Listening to ‘Night’s Cross’ feels like drinking tequila alternated with peach juice. There’s something unconventional about it, at times unexpected, unique, vibrant, and, most importantly, filled with a love for music and inspiration. Rosetta West follows a single concept in this release, the theme of death. You know the saying, “Laughter hides fear and heals lost souls”? If not, that’s okay, it perfectly captures the sound and message of the album. Despite the brightness, occasional lightness, and romantic undertones in the music, the overarching concept subtly ties all the tracks into a cohesive canvas.

The album opens with ‘Save Me’, and a rocking wave of stylish alt rock and blues immediately hits the mark. The catchy vocals hover over the melody, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the album’s overall sound, pushing you to continue listening and leaving a tangible energy after the final note.
Already in the next track, ‘Suzie’, the groovy guitars set the mood, filling the atmosphere with a stylish, swinging vibe. Undoubtedly, this sound brings vibrant, unrestrained energy. The lyrics drive the melody forward, evoking a sense of complete relaxation. The stylish bluesy touches in the guitars blend with the playful vocals, creating a unique sound.
I love the roughness and rawness of the guitars in ‘Dora Lee’, which highlight Rosetta West’s distinctive style. The sound becomes tangible, vivid, and feels as if it’s crafted especially for each listener. This track makes you want to set everything aside and simply enjoy the unstoppable sound. Rosetta West play with style and sound, expanding their music with unique inserts from the wild, such as the growl of an alligator in the track ‘Alligator Farm’. The track’s humor and catchiness are one of a kind, captivating with their lightness and spontaneity. This is a great addition to any playlist for moments when you want something vibrant and distinctive in your life.
The gentle melancholy of ‘Cold Winter Moon’ is steeped in the essence of classic rock ballads, with tender, wistful guitars. The melody lingers in a light melancholy, while the vocals feature stylish rocky accents that immediately grab your attention. I’m captivated by the brightness of the classic guitar and the atmosphere, which unfolds into a unique sound that immerses you and ties back to the album’s concept. This track feels almost mystical to me. Flawless! Completely unique in its sound, ‘Desperation’ has become my favorite track on the album. It blends various genres and styles, with a subtle Eastern motif that makes it unforgettable. ‘Desperation’ reflects different situations, and maybe even different societies, why not? If the album were a journey around the world, this stop would be a standout for its light charm and remarkable sound.

I can’t leave out ‘Ready To Go’, where the sound takes on a gentle folk tone, revealing Rosetta West as musicians who can master any style. Even in a folk atmosphere, Rosetta West feels perfectly at home. The incomparable guitars blend seamlessly with a solid rhythm, while the bass and drums add a sense of a subtle ritual to the track. I love how the atmosphere transforms, introducing a delicate medieval tint to the sound. The vocals are backed by textured harmonies, creating a lush and rich sonic experience.
But the light atmosphere of rock ballads doesn’t last long. With the start of ‘Baby Doll,’ the unstoppable punk energy returns, accompanied by vivid lyrics and striking backing vocals. This dynamic transition hooks you instantly, amplifying the impact of the track. In the closing ‘Underground Again,’ the energy and vibe of the entire album are preserved, but they’re infused with a raw, stylish force that takes the sound to a more intimate level. The guitar and vocals are perfectly in sync, each enhancing the other to create a unique and memorable tone. What an incredible and unforgettable experience that was, did you feel it too? Be sure to add your favorite tracks from ‘Night’s Cross’ to your playlist and follow Rosetta West to catch their future releases.
