Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
I’ve noticed that sometimes you hear a song and realize there’s something absolutely familiar in it, something warm and cozy, that makes it feel like the musicians playing the track are close friends. You want to come back to that kind of music, you want it, that’s what Hello London and his album ‘The Changing Tide’ are like. Ten tracks of pure alt rock, dry indie, seasoned with passionate and fiery vocals. It’s a cocktail that stirs the blood and lets inspiration take over with its stunning and cool sound. Those of you who’ve been reading and listening to Soundville for a while will recognize Hello London, his debut album ‘Past Futures’ has already played on Soundville. His second album ‘The Changing Tide’ keeps that energetic alt rock style, that unique drive, but the production and the overall sound that ties the tracks together have definitely leveled up, delivering an impressive listening experience.

For those meeting Hello London for the first time, let me introduce James Froese from Buffalo, the founder of the project. Active release work started in 2021, and since then Hello London has been actively performing, growing his fan base, and ‘The Changing Tide’ is a big step forward on the road to success. There is energy, power, drive, pure inspiration here, and in every beat, you can feel the unwavering adherence to their own style, as if an invisible alt rock thread weaves the tracks together in the album. I invite you to take a break right now and let’s listen to the best tracks from the album, so you can feel that one-of-a-kind energy with which Hello London’s rock can turn your whole day and mood around.
From the first track ‘The World Is Wrong’, bright guitars burst forward with a soft, swaying riff, and the drums lock into a sharp rhythm so that every moment of the song hits right on target. I like how James Froese’s vocals are loud, bright, with a fleeting touch of urgency that stirs the mind and creates such a unique sound. Bright, stylish, and so stunning! This same wild rock atmosphere continues in ‘All I Want Is a Road to Take’, but with a deeper tone, melancholic and giving space to take a deep breath, to simply stop and connect with the moment. You know, this track is filled with a light nostalgia, as if hinting that you just need to wait, listen to every word, and you’ll suddenly notice yourself swaying along and singing with it. Do it, that’s exactly the feeling that connects you to the music, believe me. I want to highlight ‘The Changing Tide’, the key track of the album, with its bright guitar sound, catchy riffs and steady rhythm, but the vocals shake the melody like a hurricane, filling it with vivid dynamics. This track is perfect for firing up a crowd, charging it with energy that literally runs through every particle in the air when Hello London is playing. There’s a kind of tangible electricity in Hello London’s rock that makes it feel like the space itself is vibrating from the amazing melody and unrestrained vocals. God, this is so cool! Placing such a powerful song at the beginning of the album was a great decision, because right after comes ‘Volcano’, which brings balance with its slower intro. But in the next bars, the melody shifts, transforms, and fills with strong rhythms and a slightly broken structure. This textured sound grows with every beat, delivering real pleasure from the rock sound.

I like how in ‘Am I Wrong’ the slightly autotuned vocals fill the atmosphere with a romantic tone, soft strings blend with bright guitars and drums, creating a very cinematic and gentle sound. I could picture this track in a love story, maybe in a dramatic scene, and that brings a new concept and new sound to the album. Completely unexpected, almost like a soft shock, comes the next track ‘Wait Here Forever’, with a clear live sound. I felt as if I were at a live performance of Hello London, one of his live sessions. The lights are low, the spotlights are on James Froese, and my glass is half full. ‘Wait Here Forever’ is a very personal and intimate track that grabs you with every word, every beat. Without a doubt, adding a song like this expands the sound of the release, staying in memory with its personal tone. Get ready, because the final track ‘A Little Faith’ closes the release on a bright, summery chord that makes you want to drop everything and just dance. Yes, exactly that. A very bright track with a light touch of college rock dissolves in its cozy sound. Let yourself go with the rhythm, sway to the cool drums, enjoy the guitar riffs and sing along with the vocals. This is exactly the kind of atmosphere you hope for from a full-length rock album, and Hello London delivers. You feel it too, right? Make sure to add your favorite tracks to your playlists so you don’t lose them and catch Hello London at his shows to feel all the energy of the music for yourself.
