Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
I would like to share with you an endlessly emotional, heartfelt and wonderful song ‘Can You Hear Me?’ by award-winning British composer Thomas Hewitt Jones. This piece is a message of love, care and unity. It’s been five years since the song was recorded during the first UK COVID lockdown, and its original release took place in May 2020, coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Week. But only now has it been released to the world, to bring everyone on the planet together through its delicate and airy sound, to show the kindness that reaches from person to person regardless of where they live, where they were born or what language they speak. ‘Can You Hear Me?’ is music that knows no borders. ‘Can You Hear Me?’ was recorded by the Choir of Royal Holloway, University of London, with soprano Laura Wright, and the beautiful words by poet Matt Harvey. It gives you goosebumps, the angelic singing and airy arrangement soothe and fill the soul with an elevated sense of beauty, a feeling of love that’s close to compassion and leads to caring for others.
The purity, sincerity and true magic of orchestral music, the magnificent choir and Laura Wright’s moving vocals create a light hypnotic state, and when the final note fades, you feel reborn. The COVID epidemic caused enormous damage to the world, strengthening a global feeling of the need for support that spread across all countries on the planet. The song ‘Can You Hear Me?’ was born out of the need to be near, to feel a connection between people, and it managed to preserve this connection through music, to unite so many voices, so much strength, so many emotions. And now ‘Can You Hear Me?’ by Thomas Hewitt Jones is available to everyone, so that every person on the planet can feel this endlessly caring message. Oh, how magical it is!
Hey Thomas Hewitt Jones! Thank you for sharing this amazing song with the world. While listening, I was filled with a sense of understanding, and tears of hope came to my eyes, because ‘Can You Hear Me?’ touches on very important themes and doesn’t let you feel alone. I’m endlessly grateful for your music and for what you create together with other musicians. I will definitely show this release to everyone I can, so they can also enjoy such a beautiful work, because maybe it can heal someone and support them in a difficult moment. I love it!
