Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
I am rushing to share with you the stunning release ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ by The Ram. Those who have been with us for a while have already been introduced to some singles by The Ram that made it into the album, but for those meeting The Ram’s music for the first time, ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ will be a true discovery. ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ is a demo live album recorded by The Ram and his band in Carlsbad, CA. And you know what is the most captivating thing about this album? How it brings together all the most important sides of The Ram’s life. From dusty mornings, slow highways, salty water, the quiet pull of old friendship and family. ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ has 9 tracks, and when I listened to the album, I almost felt that each song invites you to live through the atmosphere of the places where The Ram lived, inspired by the people he loved, and you can even sense the dust of the roads he walked and sometimes got lost on. And you know, this is the philosophy of The Ram. Freedom, sincere, carefree, embraced by nature, peace without fuss and without looking back.

‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ sounds like unique country blues, warm like a worn flannel shirt, filled with deep respect for the land, memory, family, and the stubborn magic of returning again and again to your favorite places, with a guitar in hand and a slightly husky voice that stays with you. That is exactly why the music of The Ram and his band hits so deeply. You can always feel that the musicians write and perform the music they live by. It smells of campfires and sea breeze, carries the weight of missed trains, lost friends, night drives across unknown states with the windows down, and, honestly, maybe without any important or global purpose. That’s why I feel that ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’, every track on it, simply tells the life of a man who did not chase fame, but grew together with his songs, like a tree grows into its roots. Slowly, firmly, almost imperceptibly, until one day you realize that the tree will stay here forever, with its roots tightly woven into the ground. This concept is reflected in the album ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ through its metaphoricity and philosophy. I suggest you take a pause, disconnect from reality, and let’s listen together to the brightest tracks that stood out for me the most.
The first track, ‘Listen to the Cold’, immediately creates a swaying sound, bright guitars, ringing keys, and a vivid rhythm merge into a unique flow, like the wind shaking the leaves. The Ram’s vocals, vibrant and full of style, sway together with the melody, giving a feeling of easy seduction and freedom.
‘The Moon’s Loving Light’? Absolutely. This is the track that flows as naturally as water. The bright, swaying sound creates a spacious atmosphere, and The Ram’s voice slowly melts into the textured overflow of guitars and rhythms. This is the sound of youth in New Paltz – cheap beer, old friends, the smell of campfire on your jacket. Such charm! Those first nights when you find your way under the shy light of the moon and learn that sometimes friends become the family you needed. I’ll admit, I love ‘Unbound’. I must have listened to this song a thousand times, and every time it lifts me up. It’s a vivid, free country blues track you can just close your eyes to and melt into the feeling of freedom and lightness. ‘Unbound’ is like ocean air, wild, bright, and untamed.

This song is about love for the waves, for the boards left on porches, for the horizon that keeps calling you back, no matter how many times you fall. That very sound that grabs you, you know. ‘Flip Jam’ adds sparks to the album’s sound. This short track feels like a love confession from the musicians. Their play is intricate, inspired, and united. I like how the melody drops lower and lower, dissolving into its hypnotic flow. And maybe that’s why the next track, ‘Everything’, sounds like fresh air and a sip of ice-cold water at dawn. It is the centerpiece of the album, written within the family circle in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Here, the cozy and soft soul of the music reveals itself, The Ram’s attachment, and his ability to create a warm and swaying sound with a unique, almost playful vocal style.
I like how ‘Join Along’ recreates the feeling of evening settling in, of cozy company, of disconnecting from all worries, troubles, and problems. It’s a romantic track you can sway along to, soak in every word, and have an amazing time, enjoying your youth and confidence. It felt like I saw a live performance by The Ram and his band and became part of the show. So unexpected and exciting. This is my favorite track on the release! You feel it too, right? The album closes with the song ‘Warmth of the Fire’, cozy, minimalist, slow, and very aesthetic. You can close your eyes and the kindness and warmth of your best days will flood over you. It’s a tribute to rural America, with its cares, routines, and, I would even say, its absolutely unique charm where The Ram finds a source of love and inspiration. I got goosebumps from this track, and I can’t do anything about it! Be sure to add your favorite tracks from ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’ to your playlists and check if The Ram is performing nearby. Because I promise you, The Ram and his band’s live shows will give you unforgettable memories. I think this is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. No doubt!
Hey The Ram! Thank you for releasing such a cozy album filled with so many thoughts, ideas, concepts, and philosophy. Your harmony is wonderful, and I had a huge amount of pleasure listening to it. It really felt like I visited your show (how much I wish I could)! It’s amazing how seamlessly one track flows into another, creating a movement of energy, time, and just thoughts covering so many periods and stories. I will definitely keep revisiting the album, and I’m sure I will find even more details in the sound that reveal themselves over time. I also have to point out the demo quality of the album. It’s very intimate, very gripping, and it keeps the light analog sound of the instruments, giving the music a cinematic and aesthetic quality. Oh, I love ‘I Am Nowhere, I Am Everywhere’! And I will definitely show the release to everyone so they can enjoy this bright and cool sound! Love it and want more! I’m your fan, hehe
With much love,
Soundville
