Gametime by Brandon Mitchell

Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,

Today we’re going to listen to and enjoy an excellent album ‘Gametime’ by Brandon Mitchell. And believe me, this is truly going to be stunning and very conceptual. Brandon Mitchell turns to the theme of the game and explores it both in the literal sense and in a figurative one. You’re probably wondering what that means. The thing is, by using the concept of a game for his release, Brandon Mitchell draws a parallel between life and gameplay, comparing the drive to win, the encounters with hardships and pain, to the kinds of experiences every person faces in life. Brandon Mitchell explores the themes of life, games, and struggle through different hip-hop styles, and every track sounds vivid, expressing a range of emotions and situations. It’s also important to say that in a metaphorical sense, over the course of these 15 tracks, you, dear listener, become the main character and the player. Each track unveils different ideas, from connections with loved ones to facing an opponent in the form of despair and pain.

And what’s most striking in ‘Gametime’ is that despite the battle for victory, the player is already winning before the first track even begins. I get the sense that this very idea creates a feeling that all the challenges and twists the player goes through only make them stronger. The album ‘Gametime’ features many guest artists, and that adds even more depth to the concept, making the story richer, more complete, conveying the sense that the player always has a team, just as any person is surrounded by people in real life. This definitely makes ‘Gametime’ a very layered and thoughtful release. And I would love to share with you some of the tracks that struck me the most and helped me see reality differently and even rethink it.

The first track, ‘Gametime Title Track’, is a very important piece for the release. It opens the album with a bright, atmospheric sound often used to kick off major sports events. ‘Gametime Title Track’ is a highly commercial track that could easily be imagined as the anthem of any sports competition. On one hand, it’s a killer hip-hop track with powerful lyrics, great dynamics, and flawless delivery by Brandon Mitchell. On the other hand, it’s a perfect introduction that shows things are only going to get more intense, and ahead of us lies a whole journey of emotions to experience. I’m completely taken by the track ‘Sugar’. This is a slow, sweet, and romantic hip-hop piece with touches of soul, nostalgia, and quiet reflection on feelings that have faded. And this is one of the battles, one of the challenges a person faces in their own game. Flawless.

That feeling then deepens in the beautifully produced track ‘Legendary Elevation’ featuring guest artist Nia Cheri. A slow rhythm, soft synths, all of it instantly disconnects you from reality and creates a mood of dimmed lights and spotlights focused on Brandon Mitchell. But the next track, ‘Right Back’, shifts the mood, making it sharper, more serious, ready to resist reality. And this is reflected perfectly in a brand new hip-hop style for the album. A sharp, fast rhythm has an awakening effect. I want to highlight the track ‘No Gloves’ with its stunning lyrics that send chills down your spine, stir deep emotions, and create a sense of losing the ground beneath your feet, letting your thoughts spiral into a stream of possibilities, regrets, and hopes. ‘No Gloves’ sits at the center of the album, almost splitting it into several parts. And even though it’s deeply emotional, after the final beat, it leaves you with a sense of hope and a renewed energy to keep moving forward.

Completely unique and beautifully delivered, the track ‘Untitled Love’ blends soft hip-hop with a sensual R\&B tone. Guest artist Irv Da PHENOM’ brings in his distinct sound. The track flows with ease, offering a soothing experience and subtle glimpses of hope slipping between the beats. Toward the end of the album, we arrive at ‘Walking Bucket’ with melancholic keys, a bright and fast-paced rhythm, and the deep, compelling rap vocals of Brandon Mitchell, layered with the airy presence of Nia Cheri. For me, ‘Walking Bucket’ is one of the most melancholic tracks here, as if the final stretch of the journey brings the toughest trials, the kind you push through and emerge from as someone changed. One of those battles that leaves a mark forever. Maybe that’s why the next track, ‘TGBNU’, starts off very slow and then gradually lifts into a soft sense of hope with light keys and a feeling of ease, freedom, and something beautiful. The sound of victory rings through its gentle synths.

The final track, ‘We Already Won’, closes ‘Gametime’ on a high note, bright, positive, and full of energy. It gives a feeling of triumph, a sense that the journey was worth it, and now it’s time to celebrate the win. I’m absolutely thrilled with the album ‘Gametime’. Every track flows with emotion, each one capturing different moments and moods, and by the time you reach the end, the end of the game, you realize something important: even though the album ends, the game goes on. But now, you’re the one setting the rules. You felt it too, didn’t you? Make sure to follow Brandon Mitchell and add your favorite tracks to your playlists so you do not lose them. This was incredible!

Hi Brandon Mitchell! Thank you for putting out such vibrant music. I really enjoyed the concept behind ‘Gametime’, the way you approached emotions and psychology with so much thought and feeling, and turned it into such an impressive release. You can tell how much energy, effort, and inspiration went into ‘Gametime’, because you cannot just casually create an album this rich and deep. I truly felt the shift in mood from track to track, and by the end, I felt better. I had this strong sense that anything is possible, as long as you let it in and embrace the world around you. I’m definitely going to share your album with everyone I know so they can hear this amazing music too. I love it. And I’m your fan.
