Music as a Safe Space? That Moment When LP ‘system crash’ by @melissageurts Hits and You Feel Like You’re Floating Through Neon Clouds

Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,

Have you ever come across music that has its own space, where you enter and immediately feel at home? That’s exactly the kind of music the album ‘system crash’ by @melissageurts belongs to. But let me first introduce her. @melissageurts is a musician and art creator making music on the edge of dreampop, electronica, glitchpop, and unspoken feelings. You know, when I first found out about @melissageurts’s biography, that she is Creative Director at Good Housekeeping and that music is literally the salvation of her soul, it felt very close to me. That exact feeling when music becomes a refuge for the musician, it becomes a safe space for every listener. Because only after going through routine and finding a way out of it through music can one create a real masterpiece that allows you to exhale, even if just for a moment, and find yourself in another world. A calm one. Without rush. Without deadlines. And this is reflected in the album ‘system crash’.

Maybe you’ll think there is something melancholic here, something sad, something like trying to escape. But I think that’s not the case. In ‘system crash’, each of the 11 tracks has its own special atmosphere, light, airy, synthpop, dreampop, creating a cozy space, a healing place without intrusive sadness. You’ll feel it from the very first track, ‘soft quit’, which literally breathes with neon lights, space travel, and a bright, free synthpop atmosphere. The next one, ‘just the outline’, is a tender piece, the kind of song that plays in your head before sleep, letting your thoughts release a tired mind and simply drift off. This track is light, airy, with soft keys and gentle vocals from @melissageurts, as if made for you to feel a reset. Incredible. I want to highlight the track ‘nvm :)’ with its vivid atmosphere and striking vocal, full of commercial hooks. ‘nvm :)’ works in a truly awakening way, sparking a desire to move forward and enjoy your life. It’s a very self-affirming track, even though the lyrics hint at a quiet wish to pull back from the world and sink into hidden emotions.

I love when an artist feels free in what they create, and the music of @melissageurts absolutely carries that feeling. That honesty in crafting a sound that’s open, unbound, and reflects the artist’s limitless creative soul. Maybe that’s why it’s nearly impossible to find similar tracks within ‘system crash’. Yes, they share a genre and a concept, but each one has its own atmosphere and completely different emotions. For example, the track ‘txt_back_4d_late’, with its stunning title, speeds up your pulse, makes you want to dance, leave everything behind, and just feel inspired. A truly cool electropop track, with vocals that are ephemeral and dissolve into the arrangement, but that’s exactly what gives ‘txt_back_4d_late’ its charm, the kind that makes tracks become favorites.

I love the light retro-disco atmosphere of the track ‘slidecore’. It’s a bright song with a really groovy vibe, and it instantly became my favorite on the album. The next track, ‘img_0717’, completely shifts the mood. The ethereal voice of @melissageurts returns, and it has a truly hypnotic effect. If you need a track to feel yourself in a different space, somewhere far from the real world, I recommend keeping ‘img_0717’ close. The album closes with the tracks ‘biteme.mp3’ and ‘lol no’. I’d group them into one vivid ending. ‘biteme.mp3’ starts slow and intriguing. It unfolds softly in your headphones, like it’s preparing you for a final burst of brightness, something that keeps you curious and makes you want to listen until the very last second. Because you can never really predict how @melissageurts’s music will unfold. It’s too cool, too unpredictable, and too perfect, if perfection can be measured by the word “too”.

And ‘lol no’ sounds like that one song you once heard, and it hit you so hard that now you spend your whole life trying to find it again, catching echoes of it in other tracks, in a random radio play or when a car drives by blasting something loud, and you’re walking down the street thinking, “Oh yes, maybe that’s the one.” Neon electronics mixed with disco-retro energy, and you get the feeling a cosmic adventure is about to begin. But the melody opens up into a unique, commercially polished sound. And honestly, this track is perfect for throwing an unforgettable party. Just give in to the rhythm, dance, sing along, and you’ll feel all the energy @melissageurts poured into ‘lol no’. It’s an incredibly cool track. And you know what, listening to the album ‘system crash’ really brings this surge of energy inside, and you want to hear it again, keep it on repeat. Why not? It brings the exact emotions and sensations that are so often missing in this grey and routine world. Whoa, that was amazing. Cool, incredibly stylish, and I want to go on this adventure again. Add your favorite tracks to your playlist and make sure to follow the artist. I’m sure there’s even more great music and new experiences ahead. Stay tuned to the sound of @melissageurts.
