Dear Soundville listeners and readers,
Have you ever wanted to fill up a full tank of gas, open the windows wide, and drive straight into the wind, chasing freedom and love, leaving behind all the troubles and hardships? If you have ever felt that way, I am sure you will enjoy the album ‘Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes’ by Robert Jon & The Wreck. This album is woven from the warm breeze, the roar of engines, the healing after broken relationships and interrupted love, all wrapped up in the band’s vibrant rock and rock and roll with a warm touch of Americana. Robert Jon & The Wreck have long secured their place on the country rock scene. The band was formed in 2011, and ever since their music has been lighting up hearts, giving people a sense of freedom, and for that reason their listeners faithfully await each new release. Behind the band are performances at major festivals around the world, extensive tours and concerts on the same stage with artists such as Joe Bonamassa, Blackberry Smoke and Rival Sons. This is the movement, the energy that overflows in Robert Jon & The Wreck.

Let me introduce the members of the band. Robert Jon Burrison is on vocals and guitar, Henry James plays lead guitar, Warren Murrel on bass, Jake Abernathie on keyboards, and Andrew Espantman on drums. Their new album ‘Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes’ consists of ten tracks recorded in Savannah, GA. The band lived there during the process, and that is why the album absorbed all the creative atmosphere surrounding them. Their complete dedication to the music soaked into every track, bringing that natural, living, and captivating quality that every listener can feel right away. Robert Jon & The Wreck talk about important and conceptual themes in their new release: love, redemption, loss, and how important and possible it is to be vulnerable at different periods of life. This is exactly what makes the album very meaningful and allows us to accept certain moments in life, get through them, and come out victorious. I recommend you to put your affairs on pause and listen to the remarkable album ‘Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes’. I want to highlight several of the brightest tracks that caught me the most.
Undoubtedly, the first is ‘Sittin’ Pretty’. Mind-blowing, loud, and fast guitars along with drums burst into the headphones, completely disconnecting from the usual reality. Bright rock and roll vocals with carefully planned commercial hooks instantly create a completely new atmosphere, wherever you are. Such a vivid and stylish start immediately suggests that it will only get cooler, brighter, and more energetic. It is a great track if you need something to charge you with energy and not let you dissolve into routine. The next track is ‘Ashes In The Snow’. It adds a pinch of sweetness, slows the pace, and lets you catch your breath. I especially like the tender guitar riffs smoothly flowing within the melody, while the vocals with vivid lyrics create that very intimate moment that sets the band apart. ‘Ashes In The Snow’ is a country rock ballad that immediately grabs attention and lets you dream, fully following its lyrics. Perfect!
I like how the track ‘Old Man’ begins with an interesting intro, soft keyboards, gentle riffs, and what really grabs you is the almost live quality of the sound, as if I’m listening to a live recording that preserves every accent and the soul of Robert Jon & The Wreck and their inspirations at the moment of performance. Because of this, the track feels deeper, more intimate, and it immediately hits its mark. In the middle of the album, the track ‘Dark Angel’ picks up speed again: the rhythm accelerates and brings back that very drive that makes you want to leave everything troubling behind and rush into adventure. The vocals are flawless, bright, and stylish, dipping down into sweet reprises and soaring up in the best rock and roll tradition, which personally gives me goosebumps. It sounds very passionate.

Listening to the music on ‘Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes’ instantly creates a really cool atmosphere, your mood lifts, and you just want to dance and move to the beat of the tracks. That is why the song ‘Seven’ fully heats up the atmosphere, bringing it to a peak. I like the energy and drive in this track, and how the guitar and vocals balance in the sound, creating a beautiful dynamic and even a slight feeling of a duet. This really struck me, it sounds truly unique and makes the track ‘Better Of Me’ stand out.
The album closes with the tracks ‘Heartbreak & Last Goodbye’ and ‘Keep Myself Clean’, adding harmony to the release. For example, the track ‘Heartbreak & Last Goodbye’ is a very gentle, light rock ballad with romantic vocals, soft guitars, and drums. I like the addition of violins, strings, and a touch of delicate keyboards. All of this makes the track rich, captivating, and creates the feeling of a farewell, but with joy for having had such a bright and energetic adventure. This feeling of hope and energy continues in the final track, ‘Keep Myself Clean’, which closes the album on a very bright and positive note. I would compare it to the credits after a movie, when all the emotions are still boiling, and the energy buzzes like a live wire: everything sparkles, crackles, and that is exactly how the album ‘Heartbreaks & Last Goodbyes’ leaves me. It creates a truly cool experience of a show, even if it unfolds only within your headphones. It was very cool and stylish. I definitely add my favorite tracks to my playlist, play the album on repeat, and charge myself with the band’s incredibly energetic music. I love it!

When I listened to your album, I felt how the energy and synergy between you come together into a very attractive sound. That’s awesome because it grabs attention on a deep level right away.
