Folk Lo-Fi Energy and Intimate Stories: Dan Rose’s EP ‘To The Bitter End’ from the Heart and Soul of New York

Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,

How about listening to a very bright, stylish folk lo-fi EP that literally breathes the energy of New York? Then get ready, because today we will be listening to the new EP ‘To The Bitter End’ by Dan Rose. This release has four songs, all written in New York and inspired by this amazing city, which is a symbol of fast life in a big metropolis and has given the world incredible musicians. You know, when you first hear Dan Rose’s music, it feels like you’ve been taken and dropped into a live show somewhere in a bar in downtown New York, where the noisy city condenses into this small bar space, and its own magic happens with its atmosphere, energy, and pulse of the city. And all this modern hustle merges with bright riffs, Dan Rose’s stylish voice, and the EP’s production reflects the very side of New York that captures the hearts and souls of people around the world. Maybe it’s no coincidence that many people aspire to visit New York in search of those bright and unique sensations that only this city can give.

And all this amazing energy is passed on in the folk-pop tracks, supported by Dan Rose’s guitar and vocals. Some recordings are live recordings from New York bars, so I suggest you just forget about everything else. You know, pour some cola into your favorite glass, turn on ‘To The Bitter End,’ and let’s listen together to Dan Rose’s confession of love to the bright and unique New York. The first track, ‘We Need Someone To Take Charge,’ begins with a very bright guitar, unique energy, and Dan Rose’s very stylish vocals. The production is intentionally raw, and this pays tribute to iconic musicians because the track sounds as if it’s playing on vinyl. ‘We Need Someone To Take Charge’ strongly reminds of the music that shaped the acoustic folk genre, and that’s why it’s so wonderful. I think many musicians can create polished studio sound, but to try something more live, which evokes the reality of sound and its living energy, this is not possible for everyone. But Dan Rose managed it 100%. A flawless start to the EP!

Then there is quite a cheerful and ironic song ‘Don’t Be An Asshole,’ which was written after a night out at the bar and concert venue Arlene’s Grocery on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The story behind the track is incredibly interesting because there was a sign behind the bar that said ‘don’t be an asshole with the tips,’ and you know, that is what inspired the creation of ‘Don’t Be An Asshole.’ I like this backstory, and maybe that’s why Dan Rose’s music sounds so gripping, because it is inspired by everyday life surrounding each of us. In ‘Don’t Be An Asshole,’ Dan Rose sings about care and reminds us that we need to take care of our planet before it’s too late.

And in the next track, ‘The Bench in the Secret Gardens,’ Dan Rose continues the theme of care and addresses the topic of climate debates but in a more positive and bright tone. This is felt in the swinging rhythms, stylish energy, and airy, cozy folk-acoustic sound, and Dan Rose’s voice is free and bright. You know, the lyrics here are so gripping that ‘The Bench in the Secret Gardens’ simply holds you. You turn on this track, and you don’t even notice how time has flown. This is a very important quality for a track that really lets you connect to the music and feel all of its energy. It’s amazing! I recommend everyone to listen to ‘The Bench in the Secret Gardens’ while just resting or walking through the city. Believe me, it will hook you. The EP ends with the track ‘Everything Changes on 86th Street’.

It’s a very light and airy song, filled with love, strength, and acceptance, which shine through in the soft and cozy sound of ‘Everything Changes on 86th Street’. Dan Rose’s voice floats in the arrangement, and the guitar only complements it, becoming the foundation for the story. After listening to ‘Everything Changes on 86th Street’ it becomes clear that Dan Rose is a great storyteller who has built a whole new world for you in his music. And after listening to the songs, you can be filled with new ideas, inspiration, and feel the power of music. That is very valuable, and I must admit that the final track, ‘Everything Changes on 86th Street’, is my favorite on the EP. And yours? Wow, this was a very groovy release, and I’m delighted by the light live quality of the recording and the way the musician seems to have captured moments of life in it. Wow! I recommend you add your favorite tracks to your playlist and follow Dan Rose, so you don’t miss even more groovy and cool songs, and maybe even live-show music. I’m sure that will be unforgettable!

Hey, Dan Rose! Thank you for releasing such wonderful music, it’s very stylish, cool, and sounds very soft. You know, it’s like I just switched off from my reality and found myself somewhere else, and that is a very valuable experience! Listening to the EP ‘To The Bitter End’ makes it clear how cozy and homely music can sound. Keep making more of these captivating releases. I will definitely show ‘To The Bitter End’ to everyone. Let them also listen to such wonderful and touching music. I love it and want more!
