Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
If you’ve been missing conceptual, dark electronic and EDM music, I’m happy to tell you that Eclectic Whiz has released a wonderful digital EP ‘5:55’, filled with an amazing two IDM and three EDM tracks. Eclectic Whiz’s real name is İsmihan Nazlı Süzer, a 36-year-old filmmaker and artist based between Istanbul and Los Angeles. Her EP ‘5:55’ features five tracks with a hypnotic sound and a glossy, slightly comic deep house atmosphere. You know that moment when you find an EP that immediately hits the right spot and charges you with energy, and you just want to keep it on repeat? Eclectic Whiz knows exactly how to create that kind of sound. A mix of soft electronic swirls weaves together with stunning vocals, letting you drift away and find yourself somewhere out in the cosmic space of sound. Eclectic Whiz has long been working with electronic music, synthwave, shoegaze, EDM, IDM and AI instruments, so she knows how to create the very atmosphere that stays in your mind. Alongside its impressive production and sound, ‘5:55’ is a project where the visuals carry a deeper layer than the music itself. This release is a surprise for Eclectic Whiz listeners, who always look forward to new tracks.

This time, Eclectic Whiz joined forces with Metal Media (real name Michael Jason Emanuel) on three tracks, ‘White Noise,’ ‘Like an Alien,’ and ‘She (Is in the Walls),’ and with John Slegers on one track, Fracture Point. The final track, ‘Time’, and all visuals are solely by Eclectic Whiz. It’s a huge creative project that forms a musical universe, and only an attentive listener who is drawn to deeply personal releases can get close to uncovering the meaning of ‘5:55’. I suggest you take a moment right now, step away from your worries, and enjoy the unique and incredibly groovy ‘5:55’. Get ready, because this cosmic journey will truly capture you!
The EP opens with the bright, techno and synth-pop track ‘White Noise (with Metal Media)’. Stylish basses fill every moment, while the airy vocals float and dissolve into the melody. The excellent track dynamics create a dark atmosphere that flickers with neon flashes and grooves insanely. Turn it up louder, because you will want to move to the rhythm, enjoying the surprisingly intriguing and driving sound of ‘White Noise (with Metal Media)’. It’s as if I set off on a distant journey to another universe, not knowing what awaits ahead. You know, I like how Eclectic Whiz’s music forms atmosphere. If ‘White Noise (with Metal Media)’ feels like a new sound space, something closed off, almost alien, and therefore tempting, then everything changes completely in ‘Like an Alien (with Metal Media)’. The almost ritual singing grows into melodic metalcore and hard techno with elements of scream. This fully turns the atmosphere toward something dangerous, new, and alien. If you like tracks that paint images in the mind and create their own atmosphere, then ‘Like an Alien (with Metal Media)’ is just what you need. For me, this track became the first encounter with someone distant, new, unidentified. Possibly with new life or a deity.

In ‘She (Is in the Walls)’, the melody dissolves, becoming softer, lighter, and you know, it has an element of ‘free fall’. A moment to catch your breath, but the track’s dynamics, textures, and vocals drenched in echo add an epic feeling to the sound. There is something familiar here, maybe in the vocal line, but at the same time every moment of the track has Eclectic Whiz’s unique features. Heavy electronics, deep house with unique touches, and the moment when the vocals dissolve into the mix so much that it’s almost impossible to tell where the voice ends and the arrangement begins. This flawless transition reveals Eclectic Whiz’s very experimental side, who masters sound design perfectly and has much to surprise with. Impeccable! Then the track ‘Fracture Point (with John Slegers)’ impresses with its depth. The misty ambient and soft vocals feel like a gentle cloud of sound, but already in the next second comes the deep energy of swinging electronics. I like how the synth keys shimmer, and it resembles the twinkling of stars in the night sky or a meteor shower. Unstoppable, dangerous, and uncontrollable. ‘Fracture Point (with John Slegers)’ sounds like a light pause before the memorable finale in the track ‘Time’.

Get ready, because in ‘Time’ Eclectic Whiz creates something truly atmospheric and cinematic. The slow unfolding of the melody, as if from the depths of space, gets stuck in the mind with a booming rhythm. The vocals, commercial and catchy, add depth to the song, making it almost timeless. ‘Time’ is emotionally deep and reflective track. The feeling of open space and eternity is absolutely cinematic here, conveyed through spacious arrangements and swirling electronic textures. You know, I like the dynamics in the EP, how the melody changes from track to track and it’s impossible to predict. Wow, that was an amazing adventure, and I am incredibly excited that ‘5:55’ serves as a hint and a lead-up to Eclectic Whiz’s future conceptual 22-track album ‘IT’S TIME’. And if ‘5:55’ sounds this impressive, I am already eagerly awaiting the upcoming album. Make sure to add your favorite tracks to your playlists and follow Eclectic Whiz so you don’t miss even more amazing music in the future.
Hey, Eclectic Whiz! Thank you for releasing such cool music. When I listened to your EP, I felt how your music changes the mood, the atmosphere, and grips you with its amazing sound. The bright production, the concept, the videos, it all weaves into a single story that reveals itself more intriguingly with each listen. Here you can feel true art, genuine, filled with soul, effort, and all the love for the craft. I even thought about the title ‘5:55’. It’s all so symbolic, maybe the name of a universe? A portal? Oh, that’s curious! It’s amazing! I will definitely show the EP to everyone, let them listen and enjoy such stunning electronic music. I love it and want more! Yesss!
With much love,
