Dear listeners and readers of Southville,
Many of us know songs where musicians mix different genres. However, Colombian artist Grace de Gier, now based in the Netherlands, does it with exceptional precision and care. Her music blends country, rock, Colombian motifs, European roots, and influences of American music. I think I could go on endlessly, because Grace de Gier clearly doesn’t plan to stop at these styles alone. Now the singer shines brighter than ever with her new single ‘Done’.

Grace de Gier and multi-instrumentalist Edgar Grimaldos joined forces to rediscover the classic formula of alternative rock, filling it with the sunny energy of country, love, and the strength of rock sound. I would like to note that the single ‘Done’ was recorded in a Paris studio, where Grimaldos personally played all the instruments. You can feel it when you listen, an incredible sense of care, intimacy, and vast grandeur in the sound. Thanks to mastering by 7-time Grammy-winning engineer Adam Ayan, the single has refined brightness while keeping its unique, almost grunge-like rawness. Flawless. The opening heavy guitars tear through the space with their deep, resonant tones, while Grace de Gier’s voice sways effortlessly within the brightness of the sound.

The weight of the guitars and the passion in her vocals, the depth of the rock textures and the airy piano lines, everything in ‘Done’ is built on contrasts. And that’s what sets Grace de Gier’s music apart. It makes you want to experience something truly unique, created with love for music and art. Conceptually, ‘Done’ is liberation itself. When I listen to this single, I can feel that Grace de Gier’s voice carries the weight of lived experience, yet each note sounds like an act of protest. It’s a voice that knows the price of silence and chooses to speak, to be free. This energy fills the heart, moves you, and you know, after listening to ‘Done’, it feels like anything is possible. If you’ve ever felt like a prisoner of your own circumstances, ‘Done’ will help you break those chains and finally allow yourself to breathe deeply. Absolutely recommended.
Hi Grace de Gier! Just wanted to say your music is incredible. I was listening to “Done” earlier and honestly kept cranking up the volume – by the time the chorus hit, I was literally moving to the beat. The hooks are still stuck in my head hours later! There’s something really special about this track, it’s got that commercial quality that just sticks with you. The whole concept really resonates with me too, I think a lot of people going through tough times will find comfort in “Done”. I’m your fan and can’t wait to hear what you do next!
