Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
Let’s talk today about care and love, themes that formed the basis of the album ‘for those who care’ by Damien McFly, which was released today, November 5th. His new release is dedicated to all those who cannot help but care about the people around them, nature, feelings and relationships. And you know what incredibly hooked me? It’s that this is not just spontaneously written music of feelings, somehow quickly, but an album on which Damien McFly spent years honing and shaping it with creativity and inspiration.

It’s interesting that he produced the album himself and personally chose the musicians so that each of them shared the idea of what care and love truly mean, and what it means to give one’s heart to the world. This message reaches anyone who feels abandoned, or those who want to care for others but are met with irritation and misunderstanding instead. Familiar feeling, isn’t it? Damien McFly spent years reflecting on this and eventually created an album devoted to care and love. How he managed to capture that within such a complex genre as indie rock and alternative remains a mystery. Yet the record turned out expansive and full of heart, with 11 tracks in total, and I’d like to single out a few of the most striking ones.
The album opens with the track ‘Superlovers’. A strong, powerful sound turned my morning upside down with its bright guitars, and then the vocals came in. McFly’s crystal-clear voice filled the space with strength and faith in a powerful, joyful, and radiant feeling that can’t be stopped. It was something strong and majestic, like the skyscrapers of New York and the clear sky above them. A true energy bomb of positivity and huge emotion, the kind you want to shout about to the whole world. Charismatic and bright, this track can be listened to endlessly, it’s that energetic and powerful. With it, you could easily jump with a parachute or set off to a volcano. It’s a pure burst of energy and faith in something better, something everyone needs. A stunning beginning!
However, the next track, ‘Waste It On Me,’ turns inward. A grooving intro with a beautiful, light choir sets an atmosphere of intimacy that unfolds into a mix of moody pop sounds and epic production. I like how this minimalist track is filled with energy and a storm that, in waves, leads into rhetorical and important questions for everyone. Strength and calm, that’s how I would describe the atmosphere of this track.
‘Down my spine’ surprised me with its soulfulness, sincerity, and depth of feeling. Here the mood is bright, light melancholy and angelic tranquility against the backdrop of a heartfelt, insinuating vocal. I sense a search for something important for the soul, perhaps an answer to a question that often catches up in silence. Damien McFly’s voice here deeply penetrates the soul, alternating with bursts of powerful chords. There is a feeling that someone first dives into the depth of the ocean, and then surfaces to look at the greatness of the world. And by the way, the strength and grandeur in this track remain the same as in the previous ones. Only here the energy is hidden and restrained, not showing feelings openly.

I like how ‘Years and Years’ symbolizes the fleetingness of time. Light, dynamic and filled with all the colors of positivity, it drove out all the remnants of autumn melancholy from my heart. A lively, light single sets you up for dialogue, openness and action. You want to do everything at once, not lie on the couch thinking about time. ‘Years and Years’ is the focal track in the release, and you know, it really is something unique. Bright alt rock, a commercial atmosphere and a great rhythm grab you right away. There is no drama here, only lightness, optimism and the joyful flow of time. Definitely My favorite track in the release!
At the same time, the next ‘In Vertigo’ changes the atmosphere. Vocals, with love, and guitar. You know, listening to ‘In Vertigo’ is an ode to movement, strength, dynamics, and the awakening of everything hidden in the heart. A very cozy track that urges you to stop, enjoy the great romantic atmosphere with a light touch of melancholy. The album ends with the tracks ‘Rust’ and ‘Powerless’, creating an incredibly stylish and commercial conclusion to the release. I like that ‘Rust’ is an enveloping ballad, soulful and quite tender in the verses and bright, dynamic in the choruses. Again I felt those very splashes of water that were in the previous tracks after the underwater journey, although here there is less power and richness. ‘Rust’ brought me back to the atmosphere of the first two tracks, their grandeur and strength, although it has enough melodicism and drive. Perfect preparation for the bright finale.
The last track ‘Powerless’ is quite gentle and relaxing, you know, it creates a moment when you just want to stop, relax and dream, looking at the sky and stars, and maybe think about kindness and care in your own life. Something very warm and tender in ‘Powerless’ leaves a feeling of attachment to the sound of the album. This dynamic from bright and almost epic to melancholic calmness makes you want to start listening again and feel this cyclicity of the sound. For the first tracks of the album are filled with incredible drive, resembling a light echo of the last tracks of ‘for those who care’. Wow, that was flawless! Be sure to add your favorite tracks to your playlist, and be sure to follow the musician, because in February and March 2026, Damien McFly will go on a tour across Europe and the United Kingdom. Be sure to catch the dates and don’t miss this wonderful show!
Hi Damien McFly! Thank you for releasing such amazing music. You know, this is an incredibly powerful album that will definitely strengthen the spirit and help those who need it find faith in themselves. ‘for those who care’ fully reflects emotion, a sense of care and support. Even the bursts of energy are akin to the desire to fight, while the slow, melancholic parts feel like comfort and understanding in moments when there is no strength for anything. The concept of the album glides through the words, the beats, and the track titles. An incredibly strong release that I will definitely show to everyone! Let them listen to such beautiful music too. I love it and want more of it!
With much love,
Soundville
