Dear listeners and readers of Soundville, You know where chance can lead a musician? To unexpected turns of fate, opening an ocean of creativity. That’s exactly what happened to the legendary Scottish musician Ally McKenzie, who fell in love with the beauty of a shimmering Epiphone guitar. Gazing at it, the author of acclaimed projects like ’90s Fly and the 2000s Cities People And Parks went on to create the new project Artillery Saints, pairing the sparkling instrument with synthesizers and bass. Thus was born the musician’s most ambitious project to date, already appreciated by fans eagerly awaiting the release of Glimpse.
One of the lead singles from the upcoming album ‘Glimpse’ is ‘Control & The Cousins’. It sets the main narrative line, telling the story of rockers storming the musical scene. Dark irony combined with McKenzie’s signature style makes a stunning impression. The track devotes plenty of attention to basslines, guitar runs, and other techniques that sharpen the music’s character.

When I put on ‘Control & The Cousins’, I sank into a wave of surrealism surrounded by dark walls and dripping water, mixed with the sound of “chewed-up” tape. The roaring guitars fell silent, and the strangely beautiful music began to build. Soon a measured vocal came in, echoing like a voice in a tunnel. The effect carried me into an abandoned subway, where ghosts meet among the wastewater. A true work of mysticism shaped by sound.
The track is far from relaxing. ‘Control & The Cousins’ is dark and compelling. After the chorus, the guitars enter beautifully with jagged effects, then the music sharpens and clears. Instruments appear unexpectedly, adding subtle nuances. The guitar tones, fractured melody, and special effects draw the listener into darkness pierced by rare flashes of electricity. Above it all, the vocals rise from the shadows, spreading an echo. It feels like a true labyrinth in an underground chamber, full of hidden mysteries. The music’s character, the unpredictable vocal delivery, and the blend of mystique and electric darkness create a perfect experience.
Hey Artillery Saints! Thank you for releasing such amazing music. Listening to your track, ‘Control & The Cousins’ felt perfect for wandering through night streets while imagining exploring underground tunnels. The acoustics, the dripping effects, the worn tape textures, all of it captivated me. It feels like dark romance for those seeking unusual paths, dreaming beyond ordinary routines. And of course, it’s a stylish song of alternative rock that lets no shadow of the soul stay hidden. Absolutely incredible! I’ll be sharing this track with everyone so they can experience this awesome sound too. I love it and can’t wait for more! Yeah!
