Dear listeners and readers of Soundville,
Today we are setting off for an enchanting listening of the country rock album Brock Davis ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, filled with heartfelt ballads, which will be released on all streaming platforms on February 27, 2026.
I think that the story behind the creation of this album directly echoes its title, sound, and lyrics. Take a pause, because we are going on a very interesting journey through the world of the album ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ by Brock Davis. The title itself ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ is telling. Nothing is eternal, everything passes, and what matters is what is fleeting. Brock Davis himself says:
“As I was searching for an album title, I realized that there is an overarching theme of life’s impermanence that ties many of the songs together. Everything changes. If times are hard, it can’t change fast enough. If times are good, we try to hang on as tight as we can, but they pass just the same. We all have our own story about how we come to accept that, and these songs are a few of those stories.”
And I would probably agree with that. Never before has the flow of time and events seemed so frighteningly fast, and it feels like the older we get, the faster time flows. Brock Davis weaves this conceptual idea like a golden thread through all 14 tracks, uniting the stories into one album that feels like a mirror of life itself. You’ll sense it the moment you hear the tales Brock Davis tells and the warmth of his soft country sound. Country. Sun. Home. The soul sings along to the chords of country music, and this is, perhaps, how sunlight would sound if sunlight had a voice. Brock Davis grew up in a small town – maybe it was this kind of golden light that once streamed through his windows.

And of course, like many of us, he grew up on the songs playing on the radio – the ones that introduced him to his heroes. Then came a turning point. He picked up a Jackson Browne songbook anthology from the local library. That’s where an important story begins, one that would directly shape the sound of the album ‘Nothing Lasts Forever.’ Now picture this: a young Brock sitting there, flipping through those pages, studying every chord and every melody, without even having heard how any of it sounded in the original recordings! In a way, he accidentally went through a full masterclass in country piano, the kind pioneered by the legendary Floyd Cramer (the father of country piano) only filtered through the lens of Browne’s songwriting.
Brock Davis says,
“There’s a direct line between Jackson’s playing and the piano I played on this record,”
and you can feel it.
Blend that with the deeply personal stories running through the album, and you get a collection of country tracks that speak the language of life and soul. Brock recorded the album live – no overdubs, no layering, just pure, honest performance, the way it used to be done, but with a sound that’s nothing short of cosmic. Behind the console was Grammy winner Zach Allen (who’s worked with Keb’ Mo’ and Kingfish Ingram), the engineer who recorded and mixed the entire project. And the band, oh my God, what a line – up! This is the elite of Nashville’s session scene, world-class A-list musicians whose credits include work with Bob Seger, Tim McGraw, Stevie Nicks, Blake Shelton, Lori McKenna, and Eric Church, among others. These are the legends of session work! I had the chance to hear ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ before its release, and I can’t wait to share some of the songs with you!

The album opens with the first song ‘All Of You’, dedicated to Brock Davis’s wife. It sounds like a sincere hug and confession. Warm guitars, country piano, amazing vocals and backing vocals, oh, this is the peak of that kind of country that feels like a kiss, like an embrace giving protection. The lyrics are stunning and deep, showing that the musician speaks with his soul and an open heart. With ‘My Beautiful Bride,’ Brock Davis offers a more passionate, vibrant country rock. With steady rhythm, energy, and an uplifting feel. ‘My Beautiful Bride’ was inspired by stories of standing up against sexual harassment in the workplace. The album ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ has many facets, different stories, and this is just one of them.
I like the central track of the album ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’. It begins with a melancholic chorus, with lyrics that reveal fears and deepen the sense of hopelessness toward the flow of time. What struck me most is how this feeling changes as it moves closer to the chorus. The sadness fades, and comes the understanding that after melancholy always come joy and hope. You know, this track sounds caring, reminding that no matter how fleeting everything may seem, the future is beautiful, the next stage will be even better. Perfect!
This is where the album’s conceptual core lies: yes, nothing lasts forever, but within that there is a celebration of life, the joy that exists in every moment – and that’s wonderful! I found myself in love with the classic retro country rock sound of the track ‘Laughin’ Til It Hurt’. The soft guitars, stylish vocals, and amazing lyrics really got to me. My thoughts drifted back to a wonderful youth, and I felt chills run down my skin. Time travel does exist! It’s the song ‘Laughin’ Til It Hurt’!
Don’t forget to pay attention to the track ‘Make Your Own Change’. It’s a personal reflection on how, no matter how many years have passed, it’s never too late to change something and allow yourself to move forward. A perfect motivational song, sounding like the encouragement of a best friend (in the voice of Brock Davis!) it hits deeper than those glamorous tales coming from every speaker. A perfect track!

The track ‘Til The Morning Comes’ is one of the most touching on the release. Brock wrote it about his aunt, and it’s… it’s just an incredibly powerful story. After several rounds of chemotherapy, she made one of the toughest decisions of her life – to stop. To end the exhausting treatment and simply… live. To live in the moments that remained, to be close to the ones she loved. You know, there’s something special about Brock Davis’s music, it knows how to speak about the things we can’t find words for ourselves. How do you describe such a choice? Such courage? When a person decides that the quality of time matters more than its quantity. The next track, ‘Christmas (Going Home)’, highlights the return home, not only physically, but also spiritually. It’s a very personal country folk song, with Brock Davis’s flawless vocals and warm guitars.
The album closes with the track ‘A Daughter’. It’s a story (real storytelling) about a girl who finds out that her parents had always wanted a son. It’s a remarkable ending to the album, letting you simply enjoy the powerful tale of how the daughter processes this revelation. Perfect, and you know, it shows that Brock Davis isn’t afraid to experiment. Wow, it was amazing! Be sure to add February 27 to your calendar, because on this day you will hear a truly perfect album that will touch your mind and your heart. Follow Brock Davis and make pre-saves so you don’t miss it!
Hi Brock Davis! Thank you for releasing such cinematic music. I’ve caught myself several times with a lump in my throat that then fades by the next verse or chorus. You know, this is a really powerful album ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, which I’m eagerly waiting for at its release. I have to admit, ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’ is the most heartfelt country music I’ve heard in a long time. Cinematic, commercial, personal. Perfect! I’ll definitely share the album with everyone! I love it and want more, awoo!
With much love,
Soundville
