Elon Lust Bursts Into Your Desires! Elise Trouw’s Alter Ego Exposes Every Mask In Her New Glossy Pop Satire ‘The Diary Of Elon Lust’

Maybe my world won’t be the same again. You know, there’s that moment in every artist’s life, and honestly, in every person’s, when what turns out to be most real is exactly the thing you’ve been hiding the longest, because it’s just too you. Too sharp. Too strange. It laughs at the wrong moments and asks uncomfortable questions where everyone expects beautiful answers. That’s what came to mind while listening to Elise Trouw’s new conceptual album ‘The Diary of Elon Lust.’

Elise Trouw spent the past few years being exactly what she was supposed to be: a virtuoso, charming, astonishing. The girl who plays everything at once and makes it look effortless. Millions of views. Jimmy Kimmel. A tour with Incubus. The full checklist of the right achievements. God, how hard it is to reach that in today’s industry. And the most invisible and genuine thing in all of it lies somewhere at the edges, her voice, the one that was writing completely different songs. A voice that found it both funny and frightening at the same time. Let’s talk about masks! We all wear them, oh and that’s not a problem at all! It’s just a way to exist in a world that is not always ready to accept us completely. Only you know, there are masks that you wear yourself, and there are masks that are put on you. So carefully, so gradually, that you almost don’t notice. Smile properly. Be nice. Don’t take up too much space. Be talented enough to be noticed, only not so strange that it scares someone. And here, Elise takes all this, shakes it up, but doesn’t mix it, and out comes Elon Lust and his ‘The Diary of Elon Lust.’

Elon Lust is made of absolutely real things. Of words that were said to Elise. Of words that were said to her friends. Of intonations, gestures, and logic that seems completely normal and even charming to itself until you take a step back and see how absurd it really is. In ‘The Diary of Elon Lust’ there are 14 tracks that are soaked in an almost loving attention to detail, and something appears in them that makes you feel both amused and uncomfortable at the same time. Amused because it’s familiar. Uncomfortable… well, for the very same reason. I like to think of ‘The Diary of Elon Lust’ as a very attentive look at what desire looks like when it stops being controlled. Bodies intertwine with fruits, birds the size of houses, people inside bubbles, everything is at once sexual and absurd, alluring and frightening. You look at it and can’t turn away… it’s so beautiful, aesthetic, and honest in some very deep sense. Love is replaced by lust, and suddenly you see how easily it happens in reality. How often one is passed off as the other. How convenient it is for the one who does the replacing. And how destructive it is for the one who gets replaced.

I invite you to enjoy the remarkable album ‘The Diary of Elon Lust,’ a conceptual work with an alter ego where vices are presented with exaggerated joy and desire.

The opening track ‘All You Need Is Lust’ immediately pulls you into the world of the main character. Elise Trouw’s smooth pop vocals, the groovy yet tender rhythm, and of course, the music video – absolutely essential to experience! You can also read more about this song in our previous article dedicated to it. ‘All You Need Is Lust’ doesn’t hold back, setting the conceptual tone right from the start. ‘The Perfect Girl’ is a laid-back indie pop track that once again amplifies modern human flaws and the craving to be perfect. All of this is wrapped in a glossy pop-synth sound. If you’re looking for more danceable pop tracks, don’t miss ‘(I Like My Women) Shaved.’ It’s a bright pop song with a commercial rhythm and Elise’s airy vocals. Very stylish. You know, it sounds like one of those radio hits that’s just hitting its first million streams.

Elise Trouw works with a whole mix of genres, and in ‘Gentleman’ we’re greeted with a light blend of pop and indie sounds, a touch of reggae, and a polished, stylish pop coating. But on the next track, a groovy wave of jazzy R&B with a sultry saxophone brings us back to the vibe of the opener ‘All You Need Is Lust.’ Only this time the curtains are drawn tight, and the night rules outside the window.  A very groovy and cozy track that will catch you if you like soft and passionate pop songs.

I am completely in love with the playful track ‘Blue Ball Blues’. There’s something here absolutely beyond control, something that captivates and clouds the mind. Flawless! With the track ‘The Butt Is the Face of the Back,’ Elise Trouw adds lightness and airiness to the sound, a kind of gentle reset to prepare for the grand finale. And then the next one, ‘Beta Male,’ with its mix of percussion and instruments, completely breaks all expectations. It’s a bright alt-rock track with playful pop vocals that reveals Elise as a multi-genre artist capable of mastering any sound. The final track ‘Because You Are Hot’ closes the album with groovy funk guitars, an R&B rhythm, and vocals drenched in autotune and electronic atmosphere. A perfect ending to the album. And I have to admit, it’s my favorite track on the release!

You know, ‘The Diary of Elon Lust’ is a release that must be in your collection of cool tracks. Every listener will find in Elise Trouw’s music their own sound, their own genre, and if you follow the conceptuality of the release, then also excellent ground for reflection. Be sure to add your favorite tracks to your playlists and subscribe to Elise Trouw so as not to miss new releases and her live shows!
