Mistikay, the Nigerian artist from Akure working across Afrobeats and R&B, takes an easygoing approach on “Get Laid.” The single’s breezy mood gives its blunt proposition a playful edge, making pleasure sound refreshingly uncomplicated. At two minutes and forty-five seconds, it also keeps the commitment brief.
There’s a practical intelligence to that scale: a carefree pop song benefits from getting to the point and leaving while the mood holds. Following releases including “Bundle Bundle,” Mistikay offers another introduction to his melodic world. “Get Laid” makes its intentions clear and keeps the emphasis firmly on enjoying the moment while it lasts.
