Hélianthème are a folk ensemble formed in 2022, with a repertoire developed through street performances and a growing appetite for maritime storytelling. Their debut, Épique la Baleine!, arrived in 2025; its follow-up, Abordez l’Artimon!!, brings Celtic influences further into the group’s writing. “Les Rivages” belongs to that second chapter, appearing among its original compositions.
There’s an appealing sense of adventure in the circumstances surrounding this record. The group travelled from Saint-Malo to Baltimore in Ireland, bringing back material that now sits alongside their own songs.

That exchange gives “Les Rivages” an interesting setting: contemporary French folk sharing space with music gathered during an actual sea crossing. For a band whose work revolves around the sea, that practical connection carries weight.
Each release extends a shared narrative, with their own writing becoming part of the folk tradition they celebrate. That commitment gives this second EP a compelling purpose and makes Hélianthème an intriguing ensemble to follow.
