Dear listeners and readers of Soundville, today we will listen to and enjoy the outstanding album ‘Reimagination: The Remixes, Vol. 1’ by M4TR. ‘Reimagination: The Remixes, Vol. 1’ is the first release in a series that reinterprets the material of the 2025 album ‘Love Is the Revolution’. And you know what is interesting? It is a carefully thought out reconstruction of the original tracks. The M4TR project is built around AJ Solaris, a songwriter and producer from Washington DC, whose work has already been distinguished by genre flexibility, from synthpop to funk. In the new release, this flexibility takes on a clearer form: the tracks are literally reassembled for a club oriented structure with an enhanced emotional dimension of the release.
It is also important that the producers behind the console have a serious background: Philip Larsen with his experience working with Kylie Minogue, Erasure, and OMD, and Philip Larsen, who has worked on projects at the level of Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. The LP ‘Reimagination: The Remixes, Vol. 1’ includes 10 tracks, each presented in a radio edit and an extended version format. And you know, this is a classic, almost DJ oriented approach that immediately makes it clear that the release is aimed at both streaming and the live club environment.

Now to the most interesting part. The sound and the tracks that, believe me, you will want to keep in your playlist on repeat for a long time. It is worth noting that AJ Solaris took part in the work on each track, emphasizing the uniqueness of his sound. And you know, it is quite fascinating to hear how the sound of AJ Solaris passes through the prism of the styles and influences of Philip Larsen and Mr. Mig, becoming enriched and creating a very intriguing dynamic.
For example, in the tracks ‘Coup de Grace – Philip Larsen Albatross Remix’ and ‘The Spektre – Philip Larsen Do Or Die Remix’, Philip Larsen transforms the sound while retaining his refined signature style. It is precision and control: he removes everything unnecessary, builds a strict rhythmic foundation, and adds a cold, almost industrial clarity. I like the subtle echo and synth textures in ‘Coup de Grace – Philip Larsen Albatross Remix’, which immediately make you want to sway to the rhythm. The vocals only enhance the feeling of immersion in a bright synthpop sound. In ‘The Spektre – Philip Larsen Do Or Die Remix’, a vivid guitar forms the foundation of the sound and unfolds into a groovy funk pop style. The vocals come to the forefront, reinforced by the grooving guitar and a bright rhythm. Flawless!

In contrast, Mr. Mig stands out in ‘Hooks – Mr. Mig Ibiza Remix’. He takes the track toward disco funk, adding lightness and a sunny energy. Here you can feel forward movement, with bright bass lines and a distinct Ibiza mood. Such a track works as an emotional release within the record. And you know, it truly creates a sense of dynamics in the sound and gives a feeling of a very warm and vibrant atmosphere.
I would like to highlight the track ‘The Spektre – Philip Larsen Do Or Die Extended Remix’, with its slow unfolding of sound, its play with genres, and its mix of completely different performance styles. The vocals are layered with backing sounds, and then the melody shifts toward funk, synthpop disco sound, and a bright dance drive. I like that ‘The Spektre – Philip Larsen Do Or Die Extended Remix’ cannot be defined by a single or even three genres. This is exactly the case when the unique and unrepeatable sound of AJ Solaris is emphasized by the brilliance of Philip Larsen, completely blurring the boundaries of known genres. This is my favorite track on the album!
But already in the next track, ‘Kill The Self – Philip Larsen Mad Dogs Extended Remix’, the melody evens out. We are met with minimalism; AJ Solaris’s vocals break into echoes, blending with guitar riffs and spacious textures. This is a cozy dance pop track that makes it simply impossible to sit still. Turn up ‘Kill The Self – Philip Larsen Mad Dogs Extended Remix’, because believe me, you will definitely want to sing along and dance! Then, in ‘Hooks – Mr. Mig Ibiza Extended Remix’, the sound becomes very rich and juicy, with bright and resonant vocals that are incredibly catchy. A dense rhythm bursts into the mind, completely transforming the atmosphere of the ‘Hooks – Mr. Mig Ibiza Remix’ track. This is already an energetic dance track that could easily be played in a DJ set and could ignite an entire stadium. Amazing!

The final track, ‘Life Without Her – Philip Larsen Alchemy Extended Remix’, closes the album with a build up of atmosphere, with a tension of sound that slowly descends into lower tones, thereby intensifying the dance energy. I like the shift in mood and tonality of the track. This highlights the finale, creating a sense of culmination, as closer to the middle the track changes and moves into brighter and lighter tones, leaving a feeling of satisfaction. This is exactly how bright albums should end: the kind you want to listen to, recharge with energy, and dance until the early morning, forgetting all your worries. Wow, that was truly amazing, and yes, you can absolutely feel that momentum. Be sure to follow AJ Solaris so you do not miss more great dance music, and add your favorite tracks from ‘Reimagination: The Remixes, Vol. 1’ to your playlists so you do not lose such a unique sound!
Hi AJ Solaris! Thank you for releasing such amazing music. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of ‘Reimagination The Remixes Vol. 1’. On the one hand, it was an incredibly commercial, glossy, and dance oriented release, packed with so many genres that sometimes I simply got lost and felt something like a mild cultural shock at which point only the emotions remained. On the other hand, the release also has warmth and a gentle sense of nostalgia that nicely balances the glossy sound. It was incredibly cool! I will definitely share your release with everyone, so they can listen to such stylish and great music too. I truly love it and I want more, yeahhh!
