Goldie Luxe makes theatrical pop with burlesque spectacle at its heart. The diamond-studded trans pop sensation and performer introduced her experimental electronic style on debut album The Debutante and is currently preparing its follow-up, The Swan, inspired by the R&B and hip-hop-driven pop of the 1990s and 2000s. Its latest single, “Touch the Sky,” arrived on September 18 with a message of self-belief drawn directly from Goldie’s own experience onstage.
The song began as part of an early burlesque routine. Goldie wrote it to summon confidence before stepping beneath the lights, using the ugly duckling story as a reflection of her own experience.
“Touch the Sky” takes that transformation and gives it the full pop-star treatment. The outsider at the centre of that tale grows beyond every judgement placed upon her and discovers an identity far greater than the one others imagined.
