Katie Frank came up through Philadelphia’s music scene, spent several years in Nashville, and has since returned home. Her new single, “Nobody,” reaches back to the uncertainty she felt after moving to Nashville in 2019. It was written while she was getting used to a new city and trying to find her place in its music scene. The title gets at the ugly little thought that can follow an artist into an open mic or a room full of strangers.
Frank gives that doubt space in the song, then answers it with persistence. Knowing she wrote “Nobody” near the start of her Nashville years gives its 2026 release an interesting perspective: she has lived through the period she was writing about, returned to Philadelphia, and is preparing her debut album, “Around the Ash.” There’s plenty of sass in Frank’s roots rock background, yet the story behind “Nobody” is unusually exposed. It’s a song about the nerve it takes to walk into another room and introduce yourself all over again.
