“Intimacy” is a track where the title makes a promise and the production tries to keep it. Atmospheric downtempo, R&B underneath, most of the air cleared out.
MILYAM‘s phrasing is the thing that either seals it or breaks it depending on how closely you listen: she holds notes slightly longer than comfortable, which creates a tension that most producers would edit out. This one left it in. I’m glad they did.
The track is short enough to earn a second play immediately, and the second time you hear something different. Whether that constitutes intimacy in any meaningful sense I’d rather leave open. But something is happening there.
