seaboi’s LP ‘twinkmaxxing’ Arrives April 17: Eight Tracks That Redefine How We Talk About Love, Attraction, and Authenticity

You know, honesty in music, especially at the intersection of pop sound and electronics, is a skill that many usually confuse with openness. Openness is when an artist talks about themselves, their experiences, and does it lyrically and beautifully. Honesty is when they stop editing the story on the go, removing sharp edges, wrapping uncomfortable things in pretty packaging, and give the listener everything as it really is. With all the imperfections. An open artist evokes sympathy. An honest one always evokes trust and understanding. seaboi belongs to the second category.

The Montreal singer-songwriter, guitarist and keyboardist seaboi will release the album ‘twinkmaxxing’ on April 17, which in itself is a statement of a new stage. It is an honest revelation of relationships, lust and passion, flavored with the LGBTQ archetype. You can hear it in the sound of the album, in how far seaboi goes from poetic lyricism to frankness on the verge of satire, and in how confidently he feels between these two poles. The album ‘twinkmaxxing’ is the boldest and most open release in his discography to date. And there is a very concrete effort behind it, the decision to stay in the frame even when the frame becomes uncomfortable. And you know, that’s incredibly captivating.

The album comes out on April 17, and I’d like to highlight a few tracks that caught me the most. ‘micro attractor’ opens the album with distorted notes, and it seems that already here everything is going against the rules, but soon the track moves into the territory of dark pop sound. I like how emotionally charged the first track is, it immediately resonates with goosebumps in the chorus when the melody is overloaded with drums and rhythms. Attraction exists. This track is the entry point into the logic of ‘twinkmaxxing’, where everything begins with something pulling you toward something unknown, and then you have to figure out for yourself whether it is good or bad.

‘unfurling’ continues this movement, literally. The guitars set the tone, a swinging hip‑hop rhythm and deep basses merge with pop lyricism and seaboi’s bright vocals. If ‘micro attractor’ was about external attraction, then ‘unfurling’ is about what happens when you let yourself give in to it. Two tracks in a row form a link that works perfectly.

I like how the track ‘burrowing’, with its bright vocals and almost theatrical musical‑theatre style, speaks directly to the heart, looking inside and ignoring all defences. This is the track that digs into relationships, into anxiety, and into that inner logic that makes a person build shelters where others see only darkness. It is a very cozy track, with light spring vibes. It is really cool. Make sure to add it to the list of tracks to pay attention to.

The track ‘models & apostles’ is, in my opinion, the central point of the album and the most conceptually dense. Those who are being watched and those who are following. seaboi’s lyrical character exists in both positions at once, and it is this duality that creates the sharpest tension. The tension between long vocal notes and saturated electronics. The track leans toward synth pop and dark cosmic electronics. seaboi’s vocals here are especially anxious, especially open to the listener. Oh, this is really cool!

I’d like to highlight the keyboard parts in ‘xna’. This track feels dancey and light, the kind that leaves room for melancholy, but seaboi’s vocals and lyrics resemble an inner dialogue, an appeal to oneself as a plea. It is definitely my favorite track on the release!

The final track ‘equinox’ ends on a cozy note. Gentle strings, keyboards, a swinging rhythm, and an open vocal with a light synth treatment. It is an incredibly stylish track that closes the album brightly and memorably. ‘twinkmaxxing’ ends where many albums begin: at the point where the artist knows enough about themselves to stop pretending. They know it all.

On ‘twinkmaxxing’ seaboi takes the LGBTQ archetype and turns it into a structure that holds emotions and something that still awaits a name. The eight tracks are arranged in a sequence that speaks to the artist’s maturity. And you know, judging by this album, the musician has only just begun to speak at full strength. So make sure to follow seaboi so you do not miss more releases, and write down the date April 17, when the album ‘twinkmaxxing’ comes out. Highly recommended!
