Dancing In Tongues Go Further Than Ever Before With the Stunning New Single ‘Petri Dish’

Brooklyn duo Dancing In Tongues has released a new single ‘Petri Dish,’ which marks the first step toward something bigger. It is with ‘Petri Dish’ that the eponymous four-track EP opens, with its release scheduled for July 3. The duo recorded it in Berlin alongside producers Lucas Herweg (LLUCID) and Jacob Bergson (TAUT), who work together under the shared name Designer, and the collaboration has clearly done the material a great deal of good. Dancing In Tongues was formed by vocalist and multidisciplinary artist Sarah Martin-Nuss and drummer/producer David Nuss, who have spent several years steadily building their own universe at the intersection of ambient electronics, avant-garde indie and dance music.

‘Petri Dish’ is perhaps the most personal thing the duo has ever brought themselves to make public. The track was written during the process of undergoing IVF, and that knowledge changes the angle of perception entirely. The duo itself describes the experience as simultaneously draining and astonishing: hope that manages to take root before you have time to prepare yourself for it, and the complete impossibility of controlling what happens next. It is precisely this state, suspended between faith and anxiety, that became the foundation of the track. Absolutely recommend listening!
