Camilla North’s ‘Som Du e’ Is The Raw, Unfiltered Love Song We’ve Been Waiting For

Norwegian singer and songwriter Camilla North has released a new single ‘Som Du e’. This is a track in her native language, which continues her conscious turn towards music in the Norwegian language. Camilla North grew up in Bergen, received a master’s degree in songwriting at Bath Spa University in England, wrote the song ‘Deja Vu’ for the Korean group f(x), which reached first place on the World Billboard, and even represented San Marino at the Eurovision 2018 selection.

Now, with ‘Som Du e’ her decision to sing in Norwegian looks like a return to herself. As if after a long journey through foreign languages and foreign stages, Camilla North finally speaks as she feels. The very title ‘Som Du e’ already sets the tone: this is a song about acceptance, about seeing a person without filters and conditions. In the context of Camilla’s recent works, including the single ‘Lykkelig i Stille Regn’ with producer Mike Parda and co-author Linda Dale, a clear line traces through: the artist is building her world in the frame of commercial pop sound. Her catchy vocal in her native language gains special warmth, that very intimacy which is impossible to imitate in a foreign language. I absolutely recommend!
