There’s a very specific kind of hell in knowing someone’s bad for you and staying anyway. Birmingham’s ROZZZQWEEN has built a track around exactly that feeling, and “Praise Me” doesn’t flinch from it. “Praise Me” the ugly bit before the breakup, the part nobody writes songs about because it makes you look weak. Logic says leave. Something else says stay.

“Ever been in a relationship with someone who’s just so ungrateful and wrong for you but you’d be damned if they left? ” she says. “This is for the people out there in terrible relationships but feel as though they can’t leave because of that little thing called love.”

“Praise Me” sits right in that gap, refusing to resolve it, because that’s honest, that’s what it actually feels like. Alternative R&B and soul do the heavy lifting sonically, but it’s ROZZZQWEEN’s mouth that does the damage. She’s not interested in dressing this up.
