CARDELINA is the musical project of Spanish singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Rosana Abad. “Yo me iré” introduces her third album, “La Ley Natural,” through themes of detachment, uncertainty and personal transformation. Its mystical, psychedelic character gives those concerns an intriguing setting. Departure becomes a conscious decision here, carrying both the promise of change and the weight of leaving familiar things behind. As an opening statement for an album, that’s a compelling place to begin.

Pablo Cano handles production, guitar and keyboards, joined by Eduardo Abad on drums and Natxo Miralles on percussion. That combination places the song within CARDELINA’s developing relationship between folk and organic psychedelia. The accompanying video brings her rural surroundings into the picture, using locations around Pinares and people from the area. Read alongside the song’s themes, those roots give the idea of departure greater significance: home remains part of the story even as the protagonist chooses to leave. CARDELINA finds a promising subject in that tension between belonging somewhere and allowing yourself to change.
